Lucy Lillian

Over the last few days I’ve been watching Kelly Brown from Little Pieces Photography in QLD strut her stuff on CreativeLive. As Hannah and Vanan were scheduled to come in and view their lifestyle newborn session of Lucy I asked if I could borrow Lucy to try out a few tips and tricks I had picked up along the way (and play with a few new props I have picked up). As Hannah is a fellow photographer friend she was more than happy to give it a go so we decided to have a quick newborn session before viewing their slideshow.

Quick…

Newborn…

Well I’ve learnt my lesson because no newborn shoot is ever quick, and Lucy is definitely not a newborn anymore being 4 weeks old. But Lucy was brilliant and well, I got a little carried away as I do. Now while I never guarantee this style of photography for any baby older than 2 weeks (preferably within the first 10 days), we had great success. Here is my favourite from the not-so-mini session.

Oh and by the way Hannah and Vanan loved their slideshow and photos which just made my day! I hope you love this image just as much.

I was in the Sunday Telegraph!

Well, sort of…

As I was feeding Indi and browsing through my facebook feed late last night (or early this morning depending on how you look at it) and found out that one of my images was published in the Sunday Telegraph on the Wedding Page.

My first thought was wow this is incredible. One of my images is in the newspaper! Wow, how cool is that!! Then after looking at the clipping with my blurry 2am eyes I realised that my name was nowhere to be seen. That lovely fluffy feeling of having my image published disappeared as I came to the realisation that of the hundreds and probably thousands of people who saw this little article no one will know that I took this photo. If you are reading this and thinking that it’s all about my ego and although mine is feeling a little battered right now the issue is bigger than that. A few weeks back I saw that another photographers image was used in an online article without permission and not credited until after she called the paper to request it. It seems to be happening more and more.

Anyway back to the warm and fuzzy feelings because I do really want to leave with a positive note. I want to congratulate my colleague and friend Christina Cleary for being featured. This is amazing just like her work and as always I highly recommend her. Also, thank you Christina once again for tagging my Facebook Business Page in your Facebook post I really appreciate it.

Just Beyond the Sunset

Lies my destiny…

One of the things I had on my wishlist when building our new home was a balcony. Our home is west facing so I knew we would get these amazing sunsets especially during winter. Well although winter is still on it’s way we are already being treated to some of the most beautiful I have seen.

Life is always crazy busy so don’t forget to stop and enjoy a sunset every now and then.

Here is to many more.
