You may remember couple Vanessa and Vin from their engagement session. An absolutely beautiful couple who wanted nothing more than a small intimate wedding with a few family along for the ride. So that’s exactly what they did. They flew off to Hawaii and had the wedding of their dreams. I hope you enjoy their wedding as much as we did and a huge congratulations to Vanessa & Vin for tying the knot in one of the most scenic, romantic and friendly places in the world.

I love the look of sheer happiness on Vanessa’s face just before we get out of the limo to enter the church.

Vanessa & Vin’s Wedding Story
How did you meet?
Vinny and I met through a mutual friend who thought we would get along. Our first date began with a couple of hiccups; turning up an hour late and then the taxi breaking down shortly after. We went to -5 bar at Circular Quay then bar hopped through the city.
What’s your proposal story?
Vinny proposed whilst on a random holiday to Bali to visit friends. He proposed at the safari park after we had lunch with the lions, as I was sick the previous day I was extremely looking forward to heading back but he told me he wanted to sit longer to let his food digest… then he reached for my hand from across the table and put a ring that he had bought in Bali on my finger; I cannot recall what he had said as I was in shock… my response was “are you serious? Several times…
Wedding Inspiration:
We wanted something simple, elegant and fun also a day that represented our personalities.
Our Reception
On a 57” yacht named ‘Vanessa’ – a coincidence. I found out as we ran to the yacht (we were late). We sailed the Waikiki stretch in Hawaii, enjoying the ambience and the beauty. Whales breaching nearby, listening our Ukulele performer, drinking and eating delicious food by our Chef Kathi on board.
About the dress:
As our wedding was planned only a couple of months before, I was a bridal shop’s dream customer. When my mother and I walked into the bridal shop we both looked straight over at the same dress hanging “that’s the one”. I had no idea what dress I wanted, no consultations with bridal magazines and the lounge. I tried on three gowns and I still kept my eye on the one chosen – it was simple, elegant and straight off the rack.
Were there any surprises?
Of course, what are the odds that you need mountains of paperwork to get married. Luckily I had an awesome friend who assisted and kept me focused plus I had a mother who was determined to get my paperwork signed, and a future mother-in-law who sorted the paperwork in the UK
I wish…
that I could get married again with everything exactly the same.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding?
Plan abroad; so many possibilities and less stress.
What’s next for you as a couple?
Continuing to pay the mortgage and enjoy overseas trips together
