Accredited member of AIPP

April 24, 2010

I’m officially an accredited member of the AIPP (Australian Institute of Photography)!

I’m so happy as this signifies all the hard work and commitment put in over the past many years not only through my own business but also working as a lead photographer with Israel Smith Photographers.

Here’s a little about the AIPP from their website:

The AIPP is the largest organisation in Australia representing the interests of professional photographers. We strive to promote and maintain the highest standards of professional competence and business ethics in the industry.

We maintain relevant entry criteria and a binding Code of Ethics , as well as providing ongoing education for our members ensuring the AIPP is a brand of trust in the photographic industry.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family, friends, clients and sponsors who helped me achieve this accreditation.

He proposed and she said Yes!

… Or something of that nature happened when Jeff (28) asked his gorgeous girlfriend Lisa (29) to marry him. Jeff contacted the studio to plan a photoshoot with a bit of a suprise thrown in – we were over the moon to be considered for such a special occasion. Since Jeff didn’t have anywhere special in mind we suggested the gorgeous Bare Island at LaPerouse which has such a great variety for portrait shoots and given the right weather the location can be awe-inspiring.

Lisa & Jeff had a little bit of difficulty picking their favourite photo from the session so they picked two:

Lisa and Jeff are such a cute couple and there is so much love between them. The session took a little bit of extra planning to make sure the timing was just right. For the proposal I had Lisa’s undivided attention so Jeff could grab the ring and propose. Once Jeff managed to get the ring out of his pocket it was just a matter of getting Lisa to turn around and notice – this was a little easier said than done as she was the perfect poser.

I love the cute little moment after the proposal where everyone is so emotional and noone has any idea what to say. “You haven’t actually asked me yet” Lisa told Jeff when he asked what her response was. Lisa’s and Jeff’s reaction was priceless – I got a little teary myself! Lisa’s gorgeous Sapphire ring – her favourite colour – was bought a while ago but she was still so shocked and suprised.
After the proposal we headed around the island and up on the bride for a few more hugs, kisses and of course photos.

We had lots of fun on this shoot and as the sun dropped and disappeared behind the clouds we were quickly running out of time. We did manage to squeeze in a few photos around near the water – Jeff didn’t want to get wet but Lisa was all in and loved a walk through the shallows. Unfortunately mother nature didn’t listen as a small wave headed for Jeff giving us plenty of laughs.

Congratulations to both of you, I wish you all the best in your new adventure into the world of wedding planning.
See you at the wedding!

Glamour Factory Makeup

April 1, 2010

One of my great friends Jodie has recently setup her bridal makeup business, Glamour Factory Makeup. She’s done some absolutely amazing makeup (including mine) in the past but wanted to setup a great portfolio to show what she’s really capable of. Jodie organised a mini makeup party with a few girlfriends which was a nice relaxing and completely girly way to spend the day – how could I resist.

Our first model of the day is the gorgeous Maya, a newlywed who was nice enough to bring along her stunning wedding gown and bridesmaid dress. Completely by coincidence Maya blended into the backdrop we were using for the shoot which all gave us a bit of a laugh.

Our second model for the day is Kathy, who also kindly came along for a makeover and looks stunning.

Jodie hard at work… And although Jodie hates photos of herself she looked totally awesome in this one so I had to share.

This is the first of many sessions for her portfolio so stay tuned for more coming up over the next few months. If you are interested in attending one of of our makeover parties contact either leave me a message on my contact page with your details or drop Jodie a message.
