Vanessa and Pete decided they wanted to get away and spend some quality time with their family and friends to celebrate their wedding. Their wedding was held at the gorgeous Coolangatta Estate Winery at Shoalhaven Heads as they spend alot of their spare family time in the area so it was the perfect choice.

I love the look on Pete’s face as Vanessa walks down the aisle.

Vanessa’s most memorable moment was when the ceremony was stopped as their daughter Grace was crying. When asked what was wrong, she said she was crying because her daddy was crying although we soon discovered they were all happy tears!

There is so much love in these next two shots as the couple dedicate their vows to each other.

The sunset was beautiful on Seven Mile Beach, one of the couples favourite local spots.

Favourite details: Vanessa & Pete cartoonist, Peter Byrne who created a caricature of the newlyweds which the guests could sign at the reception. He then did individual caricatures of our guests whilst the location photos were being taken and throughout the reception. It was a huge hit.

Vanessa & Pete’s Wedding Story
How did you meet? What’s your proposal story? Pete & I met waterskiing one day with a mutual friend. We had been together just over 3 years and we were down in Canberra with my family one weekend in March 2009. We were all out for dinner at a Turkish restaurant when Pete proposed. It was nice to be able to celebrate the moment with family.
Design Inspiration: We wanted our wedding to be quite casual and fun which is why we chose to have it at a winery. The south coast is a special location for our family and having our wedding there has given us great memories that we will cherish forever. We didn’t want the traditional Bridal Head table, instead we had all our tables fanned around the room so that it was more inclusive and made it easier to see and speak to everyone.
About the dress: I always wanted something soft and elegant.
Were there any surprises? Yes, the biggest surprise of all for me was that my best friend had flown over from England to share our day with us. My husband and her had worked everything out and 2 days before the wedding I turned up at my Mum’s house to pick up my dress and the bridesmaid dresses that I had been storing at her house and when I went in to the room to get them, my girlfriend surprised me which was the best gift ever!
In three words… Beautiful, Memorable and Fun.
I wish… I think most brides wish that the day didn’t have to end after all the planning that goes in to the day although by having our wedding at a winery outside of Sydney where everything was on location, meant that we had a weekend to enjoy the occasion and spend time with family, particularly those that had travelled interstate and from overseas so it was great knowing that we had time to enjoy the experience! I wouldn’t have changed a thing!
What’s next for you as a couple? We have just had a couple of weeks off over Christmas to enjoy a much needed family holiday and now we are in house-hunting mode so hopefully we find something soon.
